so many happy things

can i just personally thank the australian today for making the election so easy to navigate? whenever this newspaper takes such lengths to tell me how bad something is, it gives me so much more joy to support it. The consumate Greg Sheridan: ‘This election will probably see the emergence of the Greens as Australia’s most important third party. This will be a sad and a bad day for our political culture, for the Greens represent the triumph of extremism over moderation, of the paranoid style over commonsense, and the flight from that civic responsibility which characterises a mature polity.’

yeah. looking after the planet and opposing an illegal war is *so* immature, truly monstrous in its abandonment of civic responsibility. isn’t it warming to observe how nervous commentators become when the prospect of a democratic vote draws near? don’t go doing anything silly people, like voting for what you care about, or questioning the priorities we set as “politics”. think of the interest rates!!!

in other warming news, the bloodhound gang respond to the revelations of gittoes’ documentary, that ‘fire water burn’ was one tank’s preferred soundtrack during the battle of baghdad. their response: “As long as our troops weren’t illegally downloading our songs, we couldn’t care less if we’re killing machine bed music”.

nice to know we’re all clear on the true crime.
