drea’s day

despite some unfortunate gaffs during the broadcast (it wasn’t just me who noticed the music cut out when Jeffrey Wright mentioned AIDS and african-americans in the same sentence) i had my own little shriek of glee when Drea de Matteo won her emmy last night. what a speech: “There are so many people that are responsible for this, that if I even try to thank any of them right now, I might puke, choke, cry or die. And you’ve already seen me do that.” the sopranos episode mentioned previously on this blog, featuring poor adriana’s untimely demise, also won the emmy for best writing. Terence Winter’s response: “Drea, killing you was the toughest writing I ever had to do.” awww. and any wonder. i love an actress who can readily admit the true factors involved in choosing an awards night dress: “It just kept me covered up and I didn’t have to deal with sagging boobs and shaving my legs”. i hear ya, drea.
