dr mc

It’s been a little quiet on the blog lately, with lots of ends being tied up. classes finished in ccst 2220, and i learned that the course code will die at the end of this semester, so we’re gonna have to come up with a new slogan. but what rhymes with comu2003? eeew.

fiona and i treated students to a beer at the red room, where sean entertained me with anecdotes about meeting kurt cobain and sonic youth. man did he see me coming. far too easily impressed. later, when sean was approached for the second time by a random stranger who wanted to buy a cigarette, an incredible wave of nostalgia hit, which compelled me to declare, ‘we are so in a uni bar’ and made me wonder whether the staff club is so bad after all.

the honours dissertations are finally coming together, as we advisors count the frown marks and grey hairs from managing others’ stress on top of our own. then finally, on friday, a very big day – mc gregg is now officially a dr:

i think the expression on my face may indicate what a concern this should be to the world. but thanks to everyone who came and shared that one champagne round too many…

It’s a sign of the intellectual gulf between you and I that I am so jealous of your hat. I never got a hat (sigh). But don’t PhDs get to dress up like Henry VIII?

You’ll love this. The University of Sydney doesn’t have the floppy hat for PhD graduates “because it likes to be egalitarian”. First I’d heard…

    well done, Dr Gregg!

dang, I’d be pissed if I didn’t get a floppy hat at my my PhD grad… and not just from the champers. The rigid ones look sooo McPhD. With the floppy you can wave it around like a porn star. Yeah! Pimpin PhDs. I have to check the floppy-hat status of my uni… still have time to shift I think…
