This announcement was forwarded to me by a friend and unfortunately I can’t attend. In the interests of solidarity to my old ‘hood I post:
This is a call to all who aspire to compete in the Marrickville Jelly Wrestling Federation 2004-2005 season.
The auditions will be held from 19.00 to 22.00 on Monday, the 24th of January, 2005, at Lanfranchi’s Cheese and Wine Emporium, Level 2, 144 Cleveland St. Chippendale.
The main event is scheduled for Saturday, the 26th of February, 2005.

I think it’s fitting a jelly wrestling contest is being held in a town called Chippendale.

G’day, and thanks for giving us out here at MJWF the electronic nod, people- !Whoa, are we busy, and what a show we have coming up for you punters out there. We’re all getting pretty fluttery about the now nigh RIPE AGE Championship from o’er here in sunny Redfern, I kid you no….
By the way, “Josh”, the MJWF 5th championship RIPE AGE won’t be being held in Chippendale….punchy tie tho. And “Jean”, the jelly is no aeroplane fare….think more of your lawn in Summer while you are on holidays for a week in Noosa, say…….
If anyone out there is interested in making it for the big nite, feel free to keep yourself posted by fairly regularly checking out http://www.mjwf.org. It’d be great to have you all along to our very own brand of Jelly Wrestling night—-HINT—-we do not dance to the beat of “bum-tit-tit-bum-tit-tit”…… RIPE AGE is scheduled for the 26th of Feb.(venue T.B.A. SOON!)-so don’t y’all be sports shy now!
