Soundbites

Suw Charman writes a lengthy post on the nuances of blogging which seem to get lost in mainstream media attempts to ‘get it’. She has a great line that I might steal for my upcoming blogging and gender chapter: “We don’t talk about ’serious’ telephone users, so why talk about ’serious’ bloggers?”
She also has some sound things to say about the pressures and expectations that can come from having a blog: “Only have time to post once a week? Then only post once a week. It’s your blog, and it’s up to you to manage the expectations of your readers and, more importantly, yourself.” Reading Danny’s fascinating farewell post, however, it’s clear that when a sensitivity to the inadequacies of language becomes too much, there’s not a lot more that can rightfully be said.
