Ladyfilms at Trash - Wednesday August 10th

Ladyfest and Trash Video present a selection of experimental and animated films by women exploring science and art’s representation of women, and the relation between montage, sound and image. Shorts include Lynne Sachs’ dreamlike film ‘The House of Science: a Museum of False Facts’, which uses visual and aural collage to combine the theoretical issues of feminism with memories of a woman discovering her body as a young child. 30min

Our feature presentation is Lotte Reiniger’s amazing silhouette animation film from 1926 ‘The Adventures of Prince Achmed’, which uses meticulously cut-out shapes to tell this age-old story. These rarely seen films are both exquisite testmonies to the talent of women filmmakers and a chance to catch a magic carpet ride to another world…

Where? Upstairs at Ric’s, Brunswick St. Mall The Valley.
Cost? $5/$6
