Things I wasn’t expecting in NYC

1. So many dogs
2. So many children, and in prams (I think I actually believed there were no children in Manhattan)
3. So many happy people
4. So many languages, so often, all the time
5. People wearing Che Guevara t-shirts and reading Che Guevara books
6. An office guy getting on the subway in Mid-town at peak hour reading Das Capital
7. Fruit and veg stores where the produce is fresh, abundant and good quality
8. Two teenage kids actually having an awful physical fight in front of me on a subway carriage
9. (As of this minute) To be watching Seinfeld repeats on Fox
