‘Life after the PhD: Publishing, Grant Writing and Employment Advice for Women’s and Gender Studies graduates’
Date: Sunday 9 July 2006
Location: Hotel Y, 498 Elizabeth St, Melbourne (same as AWSA conference)
Cost: Free for registered AWSA conference delegates, $10 for non-delegates
The purpose of this forum is to:
* Enable postgraduates from different universities who are doing feminist research to meet each other, as well as key scholars in their field
* Offer practical advice on publishing your research, grant writing, employment opportunities
* Create a space to discuss shared interests around feminist research.

About the speakers:
Dr Alison Bartlett is in the Centre for Women’s Studies at the University of Western Australia. She has published extensively in the areas of feminist theory, Australian literature, feminist methods and pedagogy, and media and cultural discourses of women’s sexuality. She is the co-editor of Postgraduate Research Supervision: Transforming Relations (Peter Lang, 2001).
Dr Melissa Gregg is a postdoctoral fellow in the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies at the University of Queensland. Her research interests include cultural studies, media studies, feminism, politics and critical theory.
Dr Sarah Squires completed a PhD in Women’s Studies and is currently working as a Policy and Research Officer in the Sex Discrimination Unit of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
About the organisers:
Dr Kim Toffoletti is a graduate of Women’s Studies at Monash University and now convenes the Gender Studies program at Deakin University (Burwood).
Associate Professor Kerreen Reiger teaches in the School of Social Sciences at LaTrobe University.
