Melbourne

I just got back from Melbourne and the launch of TV50 at ACMI. Unfortunately Dexter wasn’t working so I couldn’t get the data on my Perfect Match. However I did learn a lot about cop shows and more than I will ever need to know about Graham Kennedy. I needed a break: final grades are due tomorrow and my rejoinder has to be done by Tuesday. I’m up to draft number 3 for a document that can only be 5000 characters long. Sigh. At least I have some new shirts and a pair of half-price Campers to wear as I slave away in the tower.

I’d so forgotten about Melvin. Damn, and I worked on the Quiz show part of the exhibition also. That would have been an addition. Then again, Melvin was probably little more than a vacuum cleaner with some bits stuck on - he/she’s probably rusted away by now. Dexter wasn’t in particularly good shape, which I believe is one of the reasons the Powerhouse Museum overlooked him. (Actually that last sentence is pure speculation)

I like your touching acknowledgement of the possibility that Melvin might be female. Maybe I could tell people that my name is actually short for Melvin. They always seem to assume it’s Melanie…

Next time, email me for coffee! I may be coming up in a couple of months, anyway. Congrats on the new website, too.
